Profits up at Hy-Line UK

The UK distributor of poultry genetics firm Hy-Line added almost a million pounds to its sales in its most recent financial results.

Revenues at Hy-Line UK Ltd were £17.1m for the period to 30 June 2018, compared with £16.2m the previous year. Operating profits, too, were up at £2.3m compared with £1.6m in 2016/2017.

The directors’ report said “involvement and activities” with Hy-Line International in America had a “significant impact” on the firm’s financial performance.

“This has had a positive impact on our business, and we are pleased that this will continue.”

It adds sales of Hy-Line Brown have continued to grow in the UK, with market share up over the period.

And notes the introduction of the Hy-Line Brown Plus, a bird selected to produce larger eggs. “As packers report increased demand for large eggs into 2019, we expect this line of the Hy-Line Brown to grow in sales within a short period of time,” it says.

The directors’ report also says expansion in the hatchery has improved production flows and chick quality, and says it will undertake a full refurbishment of older hatchers “as a long-term rolling investment, over the next three years”.
