Vegan activism at poultry awards

VEGAN ACTIVISTS stormed the National Egg and Poultry Awards protesting the conditions of commercially kept poultry.

Ten female protestors were able to get past security and onto the stage during the ceremony, which took place at Kensington’s Royal Garden Hotel on 4 July.

Footage posted on Youtube reveals the women, in evening wear, storming the stage in a fractious exchange between the attendees and the interlocutors. Security soon remove the protestors.

It is understood that a number of protestors were present outside the venue, but some managed to slip past security guards.

Award organiser Simon Lewis played downplayed the disruption, telling The Scottish Farmer: “The awards were a great success and rugby legend Ben Kay hosted with aplomb. All the winners were rightly recognised for their many achievements.”
