ANNYALLA CHICKS is looking for new sites suitable for poultry production within two hours of its Wrexham hatchery.

The firm is seeking landowners interested in collaborating with it for both broiler and broiler breeder production.

It will invest in the potential venture over 10 to 12 years and pay rent to the landowner.

Agreements and options can be bespoke to meet the landowner’s needs, the firm said.

The company is working with the Welsh Government’s Farming Connect Venture programme on the collaboration.

The site size would need to be 3 acres with a minimum 250 kVA electricity supply, mains water and would need to be at least 1 mile away from other poultry units.

Accommodation for staff would also need to be available nearby.

Exciting opportunity

Through its Agrisgôp programme, Farming Connect has supported more than 50 farming families to diversify into the poultry sector with groups led by experienced diversification mentor Elaine Rees-Jones.

She said: “In addition to being an exciting opportunity for new entrants into the poultry sector, this could also offer a business succession solution for existing poultry farmers who are looking to take a step back from the day to day running of the business.”
