Avara Foods lends support to Meat Business Women

AVARA FOODS has become a partner of Meat Business Women (MBW), a networking group that champions women working in global meat production.

Earlier this year, a report commissioned by MBW revealed that women make up just 36% of the meat industry’s global workforce and hold just 5% of chief executive roles.

MBW aims to change this by raising the profile of women in the global meat industry and connecting female talent through networking and mentoring opportunities as well as conferences and awards.

As a sponsor and strategic partner, Avara will get priority access to MBW’s programme of events, networking opportunities and mentorship schemes.

Andy Dawkins, Avara Foods chief executive, said: “From the very beginning, Avara has been a truly inclusive business; one that values diversity and harnesses the advantages that come from different ideas, perspectives and experiences.

Purposeful

“This doesn’t happen on its own. It requires purposeful actions, and our strategic partnership with MBW will play an important part in ensuring we are a business where everyone can be the best version of themselves”

Laura Ryan, chair of MBW, added: “We are delighted to welcome Avara Foods as one of our strategic partners and look forward to working even more closely with its brilliant team.

“We know from speaking to hundreds of women in the global meat industry that networking and mentoring can make a huge difference to women’s career paths.

“It’s fantastic that Avara is investing proactively in the development of female talent and giving women throughout the business the tools they need to succeed.”
