The guide, which builds on the 2018 version, incorporates the latest global best practices and advancements in broiler management and features to enhance the user experience.

Dr. Vanessa Kretzschmar-McCluskey, Global Head of Technical Transfer, said: “Aviagen is committed to ‘Breeding Success Together’ with our customers.

“Access to the latest management insights is key to their success, and these updated handbooks make it easier than ever to find valuable, up-to-date advice.

“With the addition of the new nutrition supplement, Ross producers can quickly access the information they need, when they need it.”

Reference tool

According to Aviagen’s UK & Scandinavia broiler technical managers, Sean Harrison and Harrison Davies, the new layout helps navigate from one section to the next allowing farm managers to find direct information for any situation.

“Specifically for farm managers, this is a great step-by-step guide and reference tool to assist with good management, welfare and efficient growing for broilers.”

“I particularly like the brooding section, allowing you to find sufficient guidelines for correct brooding temps, ventilation and environmental factors that need to be managed correctly to ensure a great chick start,” said Harrison.

Industry standards

In interactions with customers, the handbook provides a technical reference tool during both farm visits and remote discussions with customers, serving as a standard to align management practices with the bird’s potential.

“It’s a great tool to set targets to, its helps when farm managers can track growth and performance on industry standards outlined in the handbook.”

“The nutrition supplement is designed to support a broad audience, ranging from nutritionists and veterinarians to integrators and farmers. It provides detailed nutritional guidance that outlines the nutrient requirements for the bird at each stage.”

Nutrition supplement

“In the field, both publications work very well together. If the flock is not uniform or poor feed conversion is apparent, the broiler handbook can help assess the right temperatures, feed distribution, environmental factors; while the nutrition supplement allows you to establish whether or not the feed spec is optimal.

“These supplements can help as a guide towards a range of issues seen on farm, from areas of growth, digestibility to balanced amino acids and bird welfare.”
