DEVENISH NUTRITION has signed a 10-year R&D supply agreement with Jamaican poultry producer Caribbean Broilers.

The Belfast-headquartered agri-tech firm said the £30m deal would see a new, state-of-the-art poultry performance house built in Jamaica, where joint research and development would take place.

Its “Performance House” network is a range of research facilities on commercial farms that allow the company to measure the impact of different ingredients, inclusion rates and environmental effects in a particular market.

There are similar facilities in the UK, Ireland and the United States, the company said.

‘Pioneering’

Devenish chief executive, Richard Kennedy said: “We are delighted to have secured this partnership agreement with CB, a pioneering business, whose ethos around producing safe, nutritious, sustainable food aligns with that of Devenish.

“The performance house being built will allow us to use our combined knowledge and expertise to progress research aimed at maximising the positive impact of nutrients in poultry production.
