TWO food safety recalls have been issued for poultry products in the past fortnight.
The unrelated recalls are for certain batches of Bernard Matthews Turkey Dinosaurs and some Birds Eye wholegrain chicken nuggets.
Bernard Matthews’ recall was because of the possibility of metal pieces in the product – considered a serious food safety breach under EU rules. An alert was issued on Europe’s Rapid Food and Feed Safety Alert system.
The company wrote in a statement: “Please be informed that we are initiating a recall on the ‘Bernard Matthews Turkey Dinosaurs’ due to the potential presence of small pieces of metal. “We apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause you.”
Birds Eye said a small number of chicken nugget packages could contain small pieces of clear plastic. It issued a recall for four batches of the product with the best before date October 2020.
