CROWSHALL VETS partner Ian Lowery has been named the new veterinary consultant for the British Egg Industry Council (BEIC).
He will take up the role from 1 December this year.
The current holder of the role, Paul McMullin, is to retire at the end of the year after being in post since 2006.

Mr Lowery qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, and began his career in dairy practice, initially in rural Derbyshire and then working with larger dairy units in Kent and Sussex.
In 2009 he joined Crowshall Veterinary Services and became a partner in 2014.
He has a strong interest in epidemiology, flock health planning and evidence-based population medicine, the BEIC’s chief executive, Mark Williams, said. “Ian works closely across the layer sector with a particular focus on layer breeders and commercial laying flocks.
Practical experience
“His practical experience in commercial laying flocks and deep understanding of laboratory testing, particularly in relation to Salmonella testing, make him well suited to this role.”
Mr Williams also paid tribute to Mr McMullin’s service. “I wish to take this opportunity to thank Paul for all his help and guidance,” he said, “in particular his knowledge of all things poultry veterinary and the ability to influence, as well as challenge, those we seek to influence.
“Without his guidance, we could not have achieved the successes and avoided the problems that have enabled our industry to be where it is today.”
