It is headquartered in Barneveld, in the Netherlands, and has about 125 employees and sales last year exceeded €50m.
In the UK products are sold exclusively through Jansen UK Ltd, which has held the dealership for more than 30 years.
Jansen specialises in the development and manufacture of systems for the poultry sector, from housing equipment, egg transport systems, unloading systems, air washers and heat exchangers to manure drying systems.
It operates in more than 80 countries with a global dealer network.
VDL said the acquisition would help it gain better access to the global poultry market, which it described as “a highly promising sector”.
Ab Jansen, the founder of Jansen Poultry Equipment, said: ‘I’m proud and thrilled about the fact that this takeover allows my employees to continue to work for a family business.
“It also offers long-term continuity for the business in Barneveld. I’m looking forward to intensifying the collaboration with VDL, which will largely hold on to our existing policy.”
Danny Lisle, of Jansen UK, said the firm looked forward to working with VDL Group and paid tribute to Mr Jansen. “Anyone who knows Albert Jansen will know him as a true gentleman of the industry and it has been a genuine pleasure to work alongside him for many years.
“We also see this as a really exciting opportunity to secure the future for Jansen UK,” he added.
