LOHMANN GB technical manager Adrian Marshall has been awarded a Nuffield Scholarship.

Mr Marshall plans to study how the commercial egg sector can meet rising consumer interest, and looming regulatory changes, in bird welfare standards.

The scholarship has been sponsored by the British Egg Marketing Board Trust, and will see Mr Marshall seeking guidance from experts around the world.

It will ultimately result in a report that is aimed at being of benefit to the British egg sector.

There are 20 scholars in the 2021 intake covering a broad swathe of agriculture.

Life changing

Mike Vacher, Nuffield Farming director said: “A Nuffield scholarship is a life changing experience, and will no doubt prove invaluable to both Scholar businesses and to the industry as a whole.

“On behalf of Nuffield Farming, I wish the 2021 Scholars the very best of luck as they prepare to start their studies.

“We are excited to hear more about the knowledge and experiences you gain over the course of your journeys. In these ever-changing times, what you bring back with you will play a vital role in driving UK agriculture forward.”

The Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust is a registered charity that awards about 20 scholarships annually in the UK to people between the ages of 22 and 45 from across the agricultural industry.
