PORTUGAL’S food safety authority (ASAE) has announced that it seized more than 400,000 eggs in April largely because of labelling errors.

Codes were missing on some 370,000 of the eggs, 16,200 had a lack of traceability and almost 15,000 had poor marking on the labels.

The total value was about €25,500, ASAE said.

The authority said the siezures took place at packing and sorting  centres in the country’s central region.
