The two new chick holding rooms at London Heathrow have been designed in collaboration with Aviagen’s global veterinary team to provide a temporary home for the chicks before they take off to destinations around the world.

Each room is equipped with digital panel controls calibrated to maintain the ideal temperature, humidity, and ventilation to ensure biosecurity.

Diane Hartjes, Aviagen’s global director of Export, Logistics, and Trade Compliance, said: “The introduction of these holding rooms demonstrates the shared commitment of Aviagen and JAS to consistently enhance bird welfare.

“It also underscores our commitment to supply robust breeding stock to producers, contributing to the availability of nutritious and sustainable chicken meat worldwide.”

Carlo Rebuffi, JAS Worldwide’s Live Animal Manager and Aviagen Global Account Manager, added: “The creation of these two rooms marks another milestone in the collaborative relationship between Aviagen and JAS Worldwide.

“Our goal is to help Aviagen safely deliver chicks to their destination, and we are proud to contribute to global food supply.”
