WYNNSTAY GROUP has opened a new Humphrey Pullets office in Twyford and expanded its pullet-rearing capacity as it steps up investment in its poultry division.

The new office, at Northfields House, Northfields, Twyford, will serve as a dedicated hub for the group’s poultry operations, bringing together pullet-rearing expertise, technical support and customer engagement.

Alongside the facility, Wynnstay said it has made a substantial increase in pullet capacity, providing a significant percentage uplift in production capability. The company did not disclose the size of the uplift or the value of the investment.

The move is intended to bring Wynnstay’s pullet supply more closely together with its feed and technical advisory services, supporting laying flocks from the rearing stage through to peak lay.

Wynnstay operates in the poultry sector through its integrated Humphrey Feeds & Pullets business, supplying both feed and pullets. The company said the business serves a significant proportion of the market, including part of the free-range and premium egg sectors.

‘Poultry a growth area’

The expansion forms part of Wynnstay’s Strategy Genesis programme, under which poultry has been identified as a growth area. The group said its priorities include increasing volumes, strengthening technical support and integrating its poultry activities across the supply chain.

Chief executive Alk Brand said the investment demonstrated Wynnstay’s ambition to grow its poultry presence by linking pullet rearing more closely with feed and advisory services. He said the group saw long-term opportunity in the sector and wanted to provide producers with the expertise and infrastructure needed to support flock performance.

Rob Williams, commercial manager – poultry at Wynnstay Group, said the combination of increased pullet capacity and a dedicated operational base would strengthen the scale and capability of the business.

Support

He said the investment would allow Wynnstay to better integrate pullet supply with “nutrition, health, and performance expertise”, with the aim of providing more consistent support throughout the lifecycle of customers’ flocks.

Wynnstay said closer alignment between pullet rearing, tailored feed programmes and advisory services is intended to improve customer performance outcomes while supporting longer-term growth.

The company also pointed to the continuing shift towards higher-welfare egg production systems as part of the backdrop to its poultry investment, with free-range eggs representing a growing proportion of output and retail sales.

It said production levels across the wider agricultural sector remain strong, while consumer demand continues to be supported by value, versatility and changing preferences.

Wynnstay said further updates and insights on its poultry expansion are expected over the coming months as it continues to increase its focus on the sector.
